Hello! You have received this invitation because you may be interested in the upcoming meetings of the RTD FasTracks North Metro EIS Station Planning Committee or Issues Forum. Please let us know if you plan to attend one of the meetings. See left column for meeting and RSVP details. The RTD FasTracks North Metro Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) is a high-capacity fixed-guideway transit corridor between Denver Union Station (DUS) and the 162nd Avenue area, passing through North Denver, Commerce City, Northglenn, Thornton, and unincorporated Adams County. The North Metro EIS will result in the identification of a preferred alternative – rail alignment, rail technology, and station locations. The EIS will identify impacts that may be caused by implementation of the preferred alternative and will recommend ways to minimize or mitigate any possible adverse impacts. Throughout the EIS process, numerous opportunities will be available for the public to provide input on project decisions. The EIS is scheduled to be completed in 2008. Since September 2006, the North Metro EIS project team has been examining transit alternatives in the North Metro EIS study area. Based on technical review as well as agency and public input, the project team is moving forward with commuter rail transit technology alternatives, primarily using the existing railroad right-of-way (Burlington Northern Santa Fe and Union Pacific). The project team is now focusing on identifying issues and opportunities surrounding proposed rail station locations and working to address community concerns such as noise, traffic, pedestrian safety, and property values. The project team is inviting interested agencies and members of the public to participate in meetings focused on their community area. To this end, the North Metro EIS is holding two separate meetings for the northern and southern communities. Each meeting will begin with a focus on station location issues (Part I) and then transition into a community issues forum (Part II). Please see left column for meeting details.
